This was the first one I made.. A midsection created with score lines and masked off with scrap paper. TH masks and some inks sponged on. I liked it... but thought perhaps it would be improved with a bit more 'depth' in the background like so..
With masks in place, script stamped in picket fence distress stain and then the same inks sponged on (with a bit less of the vibrant blue as I wasn't so sure about it!)
I have deliberately left the sentiment off the second version, in case I don't want to use it as a birthday card. And I really can't decide which I prefer, I think that I like them both!
So I need your help to decide which to send! The card from yesterday's post, the top one or the bottom one from this post! Mum's vote is yesterday's share. I'm really torn!
Whatever I send, this is definitely a technique I'll be doing again - I only recently got myself some sponges and some ink duster brushes, and I have loved playing with them! Such different effects! And so QUICK to make! I'll definitely be making some of these to send off to St Luke's with my next load!
Challenges are pretty much the same as yesterdays...
Try It On Tuesday - Fathers day (cards for men or boys)
Simon Says Stamp - Cards for a special man or fathers day
Chocolate, Coffee & Cards - For men
And of course St Luke's Charity Challenge - One Layer Month
Hi M

These look so fabulous!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great job you've made of these - stunning colours -- I really like the vibrant blue! x
ReplyDeleteI like both but I have a preference for the second, the small writing in the background, I really like that!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors too!
Thank you for visiting my blog and for the nice comment.
Having no idea, I know that! But it'll pass quickly, you'll see ☺

Hmmm - you've given yourself a dilema now! I like them all - I think the one from yesterday or the second one from today. Whatever you decide I'm sure your brother with love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for linking up to St Luke's again - glad our one layer challenge didn't scare you off as it has some of our players this month!

Wow - I think both these cards are just fabulous. I really like the vibrant blue in the first card and the scripty text in the second is great too! I think whichever one you pick, your brother will love. Great work. Thanks so much for playing along with St Luke's Charity Card Challenge.
ReplyDeleteThey are both fantastic! Love the colors. We all struggle with cards for guys. I would be hard pressed to pick one but in your post you said 'brothers' so why not send one to each of them. Or make one a Father's day card.

Gosh M! These are both stunning but if I had to choose it would be the top one as I like the deep blue.
ReplyDeleteYou made me chuckle with your comment earlier - you should see my snippets boxes! Those snippets I made all six cards with were just hanging around on my desk!
Two beautiful cards ,but I love the vibrant colours of the first one. Hugs Rita xxx
ReplyDeleteLoving all your fun inking techniques on these two cards and yesterday's. Tough call but I think today's second one is my favourite. :)
ReplyDeleteThese are all fabulous cards M but I think my favourite is the one at the top of this Post - I love the crisp clean look and the mix of blues and greens. Definitely a superb masculine card!

good job, I use cheap cosmetic sponges for my blending, way way cheaper than store bought. Best Wishes

Well I love the addition of the text on your second card but the deep. Luke on the fist is just catching my eye so sorry I'm no use to help you!!! I love how you've used the masks.... Perfect for a one layer card :0)
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining us at St Luke's this month.

Hi M . . . these are brilliant makes. I'm off for a nosey (I mean BROWSE) around the rest of your blog. Found you via Mike's Gal's side list! xxx
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favourite techniques M for pretty much the reasons you've given - unique results, quick to make, always effective! I love what you've come up with here and the second card is definitely my favourite although I do really like the vibrant blue in the first.
ReplyDeleteThey are both gorgeous M. I don`t think I could choose a favourite. Thanks for your continued support at St Lukes.

Both your cards are gorgeous. Love the bluey green behind the embossed images. x
ReplyDeleteI definitely like the top one with the darker blue. The color combo moves me!
